cultural, institutional, civic
Atoma Design along with AR-MA are the winners of the City of Sydney Creative Spaces 2017 Expression of Interest to create a new design hub on Level 3 101-111 William Street, Darlinghurst.
SARA (Sydney Architectural Research Agency) is proposed as a workplace for the future of collaborative design. SARA will become the design office for two of Sydney's emerging architecture and digital engineering practices.
The goal of SARA is to reconfigure the design construction industry through research in order to make lasting improvements to our city and its built and cultural environments, whilst creating a new home for both businesses.
SARA will be a centre for applied research in design techniques, materials, and prefabrication. It will accomodate an extensive library of material techniques and building fabric; digital fabrication and prototyping equipment; and a state-of-the-art meeting space with augmented and virtual reality capabilities.
central to SARA is its technological core, a flexible, dynamic workspace, comprising Material Research Lab, Reality Capture Lab, and I-Room.
SARA will continue to contribute to the local creative ecology and culture of the precinct through our monthly Special Events Program.
